Why compare .fr, .de and .nl?
The three largest Western European ccTLDs (country-code Top-Level Domains) — .de (Germany), .uk (UK) and .nl (Netherlands) — together hold over 34 million domain names, the majority of the European market. France (.fr) follows with around 4.3 million active domains.
Each registry publishes its own open data statistics with varying levels of detail. AFNIC and SIDN are the most comprehensive (creations, deletions, transfers, registrars, geography). DENIC publishes only the monthly total stock since 1994, but with exceptional daily freshness.
This page aggregates official figures in near real-time. Click a card to dive into the per-registry details: monthly evolution, comparisons, FAQ and structured data for AI and search engines.
Preguntas frecuentes
Which is the largest European ccTLD?
It's .de (Germany, ~17.9 million domains), followed by .uk (~11M), .nl (~6M) and .fr (~4.3M).
Where does the data come from?
Directly from the official open data registries: AFNIC for .fr (Open Licence v2.0), DENIC for .de (public statistics) and SIDN Labs for .nl (CC-BY 4.0). Daily automatic synchronisation.
Why not include .uk, .it, .es?
Nominet (.uk) and Registro .it do not publish their full data as downloadable open data. EURid (.eu) and SWITCH (.ch) are on our roadmap. Additions will happen progressively.
How often is the data refreshed?
Daily at 5 a.m. (Paris time). DENIC updates its CSV files daily; SIDN and AFNIC publish monthly after the 5th. Our system short-circuits automatically if nothing new is available.
